Russia and Ukraine Exchange Accusations Amid Fresh Attacks and Retaliation Vows

Russia has reportedly launched one of its largest attacks on Kyiv since the war began, deploying hundreds of drones and missiles across Ukraine overnight, according to Al Jazeera. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned these strikes, specifically highlighting the targeting of civilian infrastructure. Concurrently, Ukraine's military stated it struck the headquarters of Russia's elite Rubicon drone military unit in Starobilsk, located in the Luhansk region. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of hitting a student dormitory in Starobilsk, promising retaliation for what he described as a deadly attack, Reuters reports. Russia's emergencies ministry reported that 18 people were killed and 42 injured in the overnight incident, with three more believed to be trapped under rubble, according to BBC News. Putin asserted there were "no military facilities" in the vicinity of the strike. Ukraine's military did not confirm if its target was the same building identified by Russia. Both leaders have vowed retaliation following these recent events.
